5 Animation Films Up for Oscar

With 20 films being submitted to the Academy for Best Animated Film for the first time since 2001 there will be five contenders for the Oscar (it's not hard to guess which film I believe should win). Of course some of the films submitted are laughable does anyone believe that Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 will really contend? Or Astro Boy for that matter? My predictions for the nominees in orange.

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs (Sony Animation)
Coraline (Focus)
“Disney’s A Christmas Carol”
The Dolphin — Story of a Dreamer (20th Century Fox)
Fantastic Mr. Fox (20th Century Fox)
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (20th Century Fox)

The Dream Is Real

For my money there is nothing cooler than the idea of a city folding in on itself.

Ant-man Finally Casted?

It looks like Nathan Fillion might be playing a superhero afterall. After being considered for roles in Green Lantern, and Captain America,Fillion (most remembered as Malcolm Reynolds in the cult-hit Firefly) is reportedly in final negotiations to play Dr. Hank Pym in the new Avengers film. It hasn't been stated whether Pym would be Ant-man in the film, or just a S.H.I.E.L.D. scientist, but we're holding out hope.

The Avengers hits theatres in 2012.
